CrafTal – Gameplay Test – UPBGE 0.2.4
After almost half a year of inactivity, here is the most recent update of my game in progress “CrafTal”, but before talking about the last “improvements” (lol), let’s talk about all of them, because I see I posted nothing about it.
So, some of the aditions I did was the ability to put diferent kind of objects to interact/construct in game, like stairs, pillars, walls, corners, walls with windows and several others more. Here is the video:
And then I did (as expected) a new stress test, so I can see how it works when in game:
And guess what? it worked pretty well, but a bit low as 40/50 fps.. Why? well, because as I’ve mentioned before I’m using only logic bricks (I know.. logic bricks is not the best… bla bla, use python.. bla bla ) to make verything and at some point of adding objects and interacting it get a little bit slow, not so much but you can feel it. So I decided to use Logic and Physics frustrum , so it ended up to work just nice .
Now it comes the most hard part to accomplish, wich I think is to make something enjoyable, with the illusion of challenge and well balanced. Of course I need to make some others different NPCs as enemy to make different attack/defensive actions and so on.
Here is the latest video:
Just in case you didn’t notice, there is also some changes in the environment and lightening. The fist I decided to get ride off was environment lightening, because I was trying a shader (made by BluePrintRandom) and after been playing with the shader, I ended up with something interesting! I worked like a bloom shader and I was not using a 2DFilter, and also it worked as environment ligth. So thats why it looked so different.
A friend of mine asked me about what engine was I using to make this, and I answered UPBGE and also explained what I did to get this results.
And also I did some kind of enemy spawner with some triggers and random positions to make it more “random” appereance and never stop adding more enemies unles you get close to another area.
Well that’s all at this time. Hope to put some more updates here soon, thanks for reading!
